HHS-TIPS Hot Line

Every year, millions of dollars are lost to health care fraud. Therefore, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has set up a new national hot line to report health care fraud involving the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Fraud in other programs such as Foster Care, Head Start, Aid to Families with Dependent Children, Indian Health Service and the Food and Drug Administration may be reported also. The hot line is staffed by the HHS Office Inspector General and operates 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, eastern standard time, Monday through Friday. Callers do not have to give their names.
